Renaissance Martial Arts has moved down the block. We are now sharing space with our good friends at Capoeira Mandinga. Our new location is near the corner of University and Culver at:
46 Sager Dr, Rochester, New York 14607
Note that class times remain the same. We’ll have more news to share on this soon.
This year’s Renaissance Martial Arts Festival will be November 6th and 7th. For more than ten years we’ve gathered our closest martial friends together to share their arts in a friendly and open environment travelling from up and down the east coast and as far away as California to teach at this event.
This year will feature a mix of new and old faces, with most instructors teaching two sessions. There will also be at least one intensive round-robin session as well where multiple instructors will team-teach, building off of each other’s respective systems.
The festival participants experience new martial arts and learn ideas and approaches that they can apply to their own practice. All arts and experience levels are encouraged to participate.
The weekend is filled with numerous opportunities to receive hands on, personal instruction in these arts. Meet and work with other martial artists from the Rochester area. Saturday night features a group dinner, offering another opportunity for participants and instructors to mingle!
We’ll continue to update the website and the event’s Facebook page as more instructors confirm.
Registration for the festival begins at 7.00 am, on Saturday the 6th. Workshops run from 8.00 am – 5.30 pm.
Admission, which includes water and light refreshments, is $45 a day or $80 for both days (the Dinner is not included… Price is TBD). There is a $15 discount for College Students. Please e-mail us about for group rates. Also, for those coming from out of town, there is a special lodging rate for the festival.

Come join us at the 10 th. annual Saratoga Martial Arts Festival Feb. 27 th and 28 th. 2010. A host of great instructors and an incredibly well run event make this one of our favorites every year for the last several years. Mr. Pearlman and his group go a great job with mixing a very interesting and unique set of instructors along with a fun and varied schedule. Its a wonderful opportunity to get together with “our” martial arts family and friends.
We’ve just added some more instructors to this year’s festival, including both new and familiar faces! From the Rochester Martial Arts community, we’re happy to have Sifu Tom Dorsett back again. We’re also really excited to have Sensei Bill Harp, of Harp Karate, and Sensei Matt Dorsey, of Martial Arts America, both presenting for the first time at our festival.
Representing Syracuse, we’re also grateful to have Sifu Sharif Bey and Sifu Eric Winfrey.
We’re also very excited to have Sensei Lou Zuccaro returning this year. Those who attended last year’s festival are still talking about Sensei Lou’s amazing breaking and bed of nails demo. For those who haven’t seen it yet, enjoy this video:
These instructors join the rest of our announced instructors: Sensei John Borter, Master Instuctor George Curbelo, Sensei Steve Perlman, Sensei Kevin Suggs, and Rob Terlizzi. We are also expecting to add a few more before November, so be sure to keep checking this website and the event’s facebook page for the latest details.
With this year’s Renaissance Martial Arts Festival a little less than a month away, we’re happy to announce the preliminary schedule. The follow instructors have been booked for each day:
Gumdo (Korean Sword) Sa Ba Nim Justin Duvall
(Rochester, NY)
Personal Defense Readiness Tom Moore
(Syracuse, NY)
The specific order of each day has yet to be determined, and there may still be some late editions. But the festival is rapidly coming together. You can download this year’s flyer here: 2008 Renaissance Martial Arts Festival Flyer
This past weekend, Sifu Mark and some RMAer’s make the trek to Rhode Island to take. part in the 2008 New England Martial Arts Summer Camp. Sifu Mark taught a workshop on Kung Fu. He and our students also got the chance to talk with and learn from martial arts legend W. Hock Hochheim. You can see pictures and video from the camp at the Derderian Academy website.
Also, check back here this weekend as we’ll be releasing the full instructors list for this year’s Renaissance Martial Arts Festival.
